Let’s talk about a Shirt Dress

They say that men are color blind but I realized I’m not so good in differentiating some colors especially if we start deviating from the primary and secondary color spectrum. I’m still debating whether this particular apparel is maroon, burgundy, rosewood or even carmine. Let’s settle on burgundy for now….
What is a shirt dress you ask? It is basically a shirt that is longer than an ideal Shirt and therefore can be styled like a dress. Where can I get one you still ask? You can decide to buy or create one if you don’t want to spend a dime. I’m not a tailor or designer you tell me. Worry not because you can borrow your brothers, husband or even boyfriends over-sized shirts and Voila. Shirt dresses gravitate towards casual looks but depending on how daring and creative you are, you can as well pull a formal look too.
DSC_0044This apparel ooze so much versatility on how you can style it,depending with the occasion and also your personal style. You can dress it on its own like a dress, just add a slim belt to accentuate your waist.Pair it with killer strappy sandals , gladiators or even a pair of converse. You can cement the look by layering a blazer over your shirt dress if the weather is gloomy. You can also layer it over a mini dress, shorts or rompers because it does not limit you on creativity.
This particular shirt dress is made of chiffon fabric limiting me to wear it on its own because it is translucent. I layered it over a camouflage vest and pine leggings. My goal was to get a chic look while still channeling my inner tomboy. The pair of low- heeled ankle boots and matching satchel bag injected an edgy sophisticated flair to the entire look.

I accessorized the look with a pair of African beaded earrings and a beaded ring.My natural hair styled in an Afro did this whole look perfect justice. How would you style a shirt Dress if given a chance?Share with me in the comment box and i will appreciate.

In my dream beach body I’d pair this chiffon dress shirt with a two-piece costume, a dramatic African beaded neck-piece, barefooted and a big fedora hat. tada
